PHILIPPINE CONSULATE, KICKSTART VENTURES DISCUSS AI, VENTURE CAPITAL, AND PH STARTUP ECOSYSTEM DEVELOPMENT

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA – Consul Rowena Pangilinan-Daquipil met with Ms. Joan Yao, General Partner at Kickstart Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of Globe Telecom, at the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco on 18 June 2026.
During the meeting, Ms. Yao shared insights from her engagements in Silicon Valley, including participation in Y Combinator’s Demo Day, and discussed emerging trends in artificial intelligence (AI), venture capital, and enterprise technology adoption. The discussions also covered opportunities to strengthen the Philippine startup ecosystem, accelerate AI adoption among Philippine enterprises and the public sector, and foster greater collaboration among Philippine startups, investors, technology companies, and innovation stakeholders in Silicon Valley.
Consul Pangilinan-Daquipil and Ms. Yao also explored potential areas of cooperation between the Consulate and Kickstart Ventures in supporting Philippine innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology partnerships through networking activities and future engagements with the Filipino startup community in the Bay Area.
The meeting underscored the shared commitment of the Consulate and Kickstart Ventures to promoting innovation-driven growth and expanding opportunities for Philippine startups and technology enterprises to connect with global innovation ecosystems. END
