DALY CITY, CALIFORNIA – The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco joined approximately 250 guests, including Daly City officials, community leaders, and local partners, in supporting the Bayanihan Kamayan Feast hosted by the Pilipino Bayanihan Resource Center (PBRC) on 13 June 2026, at the Pacelli Event Center.

The event highlighted the Filipino tradition of “Kamayan” (from the Filipino word kamay, meaning “hand”), a communal dining experience in which a feast is served on long tables lined with banana leaves, and shared by eating with one’s hands. Guests enjoyed an array of Filipino dishes of pancit, grilled meats, seafood, and vegetables prepared by local Filipino establishments, including Patio Filipino, Willie’s Catering, Fil Am Cuisine, Goldilocks, Lingnam, Pampanga’s Cuisine, and Heavenly Ice Cream.

In addition to the culinary experience, attendees were treated to performances by singer Arriane Del and the acclaimed Parangal Dance Company, showcasing the richness and diversity of Filipino culture.

Remarks were delivered by PBRC Board Chairperson Perla Ibarrientos, PBRC President Marie Villarosa, Daly City Mayor Glenn Sylvester, and Consul General Arnel Talisayon. In their messages, the speakers underscored PBRC’s longstanding contributions to the Filipino American community and its broader impact on residents throughout Daly City and San Mateo County.

The Bayanihan Kamayan Feast served as a fundraiser to support PBRC’s programs and services. Founded in 1989, PBRC is a community-based non-profit organization dedicated to serving the Filipino American community in Daly City and the greater San Mateo County. Over the years, the organization has provided direct services, youth development programs, legal clinics, and cultural initiatives that promote Filipino heritage and community engagement.

Among its signature events are the annual Philippine Flag Raising ceremony held each June and Kasayahan sa Daly City, celebrated every October in observance of Filipino American History Month. For both newcomers and long-time residents, PBRC is a trusted resource for Filipino/ Tagalog language assistance, referrals, community education and culturally responsive services.

In recognition of its outstanding service and community impact, PBRC was named the 2024 Nonprofit of the Year for California’s 19th Assembly District. END
