Philippine Consulate in SF Welcomes PhilDel in Post-CES 2023 Visit
9-10 January 2023, SAN FRANCISCO – Philippine Consul General in San Francisco Neil R. Ferrer welcomed the Philippine delegation to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023, which visited Silicon Valley companies on 9-10 January 2023.
The delegation was composed of officials from the DTI, DOST and DICT, as well as private sector representatives. They attended the CES 2023 on 5-8 January 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada. CES 2023 is considered to be “the most influential tech event in the world,” known for breakthrough technologies and global innovations.
DTI Undersecretary for Competitiveness and Innovation Rafaelita Aldaba, DOST Usec. for Research and Development Leah Buendia, and DICT Usec. for ICT Industry Development Jocelle Batapa-Sigue led the government delegation while a private sector contingent was led by the Semiconductor and Electronics Industries in the Philippines Foundation, Inc., or SEIPI, represented by its president, Dr. Danilo Lachica.
The Phildel visited various tech companies and innovation hubs in the Silicon Valley, including X Moonshot Factory, Supermicro, Enovix, Apple Visitor Center, Berkeley University CITRIS, ATMO, and Astranis.
A Post-CES 2023 networking session was also held on 10 January at the Philippine Center in cooperation with Dynamico. Titled, “Make it Happen in the Philippines: Your Gateway to Southeast Asia,” the fireside chat featuring the three Undersecretaries emphasized the Philippine Government’s goals towards digitalization, growing Philippine startups, and overall economic development.
Consul General Ferrer emphasized that the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco is ready to assist PH entities seeking to engage with companies in Silicon Valley. He added that the Consulate is working to enhance trade and investments between the Philippines and all states across the US Pacific Northwest. END
