Philippine Consulate in SF Celebrates with Bohol Circle on its 87th Anniversary

Alameda City, California – Deputy Consul General Raquel R. Solano graced the 87th anniversary celebration of the Bohol Circle International (BCI) at its clubhouse on 23 September 2023 as well as the installation of its new set of officers led by its president Mrs. Myrna Cajilog. Consul Vanessa G. Bago-Llona and Alameda Councilmember Trish Herrera Spencer, were also in attendance during the event.

During the celebration, Deputy Consul General Solano commended the group’s commitment to its mission of fostering unity, preserving culture, and supporting its members. She stated, “Together, the BCI has achieved great things, and together, we will continue to build a brighter future not only for Boholanos here in the United States and back home in the Philippines but also for our Filipino nation.”

DCG Solano and Consul Vanessa Bago-Llona, also joined BCI members in expressing their gratitude to BCI President Myrna Cajilog for her leadership and in paying tribute to the long-time members of the organization, including past President Robert Balandra.

Earlier this year, the BCI opened the first park in the U.S. named after a Filipino American community organization in Alameda. Called the Bohol Circle Immigrant Park, it connects Alameda’s San Francisco Bay Trail to Estuary Park and will serve the residents of Alameda Landing.

The BCI is a mutual aid organization formed by Boholano immigrants in 1936. It is recognized by the Filipino American National Historical Society as the oldest extant Filipino American organization in the U.S.  END
