Philippine Consulate General Engages California State Officials on Technology and Innovation and in Strengthening Filipino American Community Initiatives

San Francisco, CA – California Third District State Senator Christopher Cabaldon and Eleventh District Senator Scott Wiener graciously met with Consul General Arnel G. Talisayon, alongside Philippine Department of Information and Communication Technology Secretary Henry Aguda, on separate occasions during the celebration of the 128th Philippine Independence Day on 12 June 2026 at the Romulo Hall of the Philippine Center.

The meetings highlighted the Philippines’ efforts to deepen engagement with leading technology companies in the San Francisco Bay Area and underscored the growing collaboration between Philippines and California stakeholders in emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI). The discussion explored opportunities to strengthen partnerships and foster innovation in support of their shared economic development objectives.

Beyond technology, the meetings emphasized the significant contributions and vital roles of the Filipino diaspora in California, and the importance of fostering stronger people-to-people ties between the Philippines and the United States, as the two countries commemorate their 80th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations, highlighting the enduring friendship and shared history between the two nations.

The engagements reflect the Philippine Government’s commitment to deepening partnerships with California leaders, advancing innovation, and strengthening connections with the vibrant Filipino American community across the state.END
