Consul General of the Philippines meets Governor Newsom at California Chamber’s International Reception

SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA – Philippine Consul General to San Francisco Arnel G. Talisayon joined members of the consular corps of California and other international partners at a reception held on 10 June 2026 at the historic Governor’s Mansion, organized by the California Chamber of Commerce.
Governor Gavin Newsom addressed representatives from over 60 countries during the reception highlighting California’s identity as a global leader defined by pluralism, diversity, innovation and progress. He attributed California’s sustained success to its embrace of diversity, commitment to low-carbon growth, and a strong culture of entrepreneurship that drives its leading industries.
In a brief exchange following the formal program, Governor Newsom conveyed to Consul General Talisayon his deepest sympathies over the recent 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Mindanao.
The Philippines is committed to advancing relations with California, the fourth biggest economy in the world, and home to around 1.6 million Filipinos and Filipino Americans. END
