Philippine Consulate General attends reception on board Japan Coast Guard training vessel Itsukushima

San Francisco, California – Japan Coast Guard Training Vessel Itsukushima recently made a port call in San Francisco and, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco, hosted a reception for the diplomatic community and its international partners.
Consul General Arnel G. Talisayon attended the reception, where Japanese counterpart Consul General Kotaro Otsuki emphasized the importance of the Japan-US partnership in maritime security, particularly in the Indo-Pacific region. Consul General Otsuki likewise recognized the presence of representatives from the Philippines during the reception and emphasized the strengthening of the country’s partnership with Japan. He added that the JCG Itsukushima will be traveling to Hawaii, Singapore, The Philippines and Australia, as part of the cadets’ training.
Consul General Talisayon reaffirmed the growing relations between the Philippines and Japan, especially with the recent productive State Visit of President Marcos Jr.. He also congratulated Consul General Otsuki and Captain Naoki Mizoguchi for the successful port call to San Francisco and wished the captain, his crew and the cadets a successful voyage, especially wishing them a safe journey as the ship makes its port call in the Philippines.
Cadets of the Japanese Coast Guard also highlighted Japanese culture during the reception, with Mochi pounding and Judo demonstrations as well as a matcha preparation ceremony.END
