Philippine Consul General Meets FCDC Officials

Newly arrived Philippine Consul General Neil Frank R. Ferrer visited the office of the Filipino Community Development Corporation (FCDC) at the South of Market (SOMA) Pilipinas neighborhood in San Francisco recently to meet with its officials and acquaint himself with the programs and activities of the organization.
FCDC briefed the Consul General on its work and advocacy for the Filipino community in SOMA in the areas of affordable housing, community development, and people empowerment. FCDC talked about its efforts to preserve, in cooperation with like-minded groups, community ownership and management of the Gran Oriente Hotel and other single room occupancy (SROs) hotels in the SOMA neighborhoods, to ensure that Filipinos will continue to have access to affordable housing, that existing Filipino tenants will not be displaced from the area, and that the distinct Filipino character of SOMA Pilipinas will be preserved.-END
