Philippine Consul General Meets West Bay Service Center Officials

Consul General Neil Frank R. Ferrer visited recently the office of the West Bay Pilipino Multi Service Center (WBPMSC) in the South of Market (SOMA) neighborhood of San Francisco, and met with its officials, Ms. Carla Laurel, executive director, and Ms. Lucille Yu, program coordinator.

The Consul General was briefed about the Center’s programs and activities, and was shown the facilities of the WBPMSC. The Consul General also met the Filipino high school students who were at the Center availing of its academic enrichment services. The WBPMSC is considered to be the oldest non-profit organization in Northern California, having started to serve the Filipino community in 1968 through its academic, health, social, and economic sustainability services.  It conducts academic enrichment and mentorship program as well as college preparatory program for underserved youth, as well as family and senior support programs through case management services, food distribution, health and wellness workshops and activities.
