To address the consular needs of Filipino Americans in Oregon and nearby states, the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco conducted a consular outreach mission on 19-23 August 2022 at the Doubletree Hilton Hotel in Tigard, OR.

During the outreach, 986 Filipino and dual citizens applied for passport and travel documents and 489 reacquired/retained their Filipino citizenship under Republic Act 9225. Ancillary services such as registration of births and marriages and notarial services were also extended to 51 passport applicants.   In partnership with the Department of Labor- Wage and Hour Division (DOL-WHD), a briefing on workers’ rights was also conducted during the event.

The consular outreach was undertaken in coordination with the Office of Philippine Honorary Consul Enrico Tadeo and in partnership with various Filipino-American organizations in Oregon, including the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce of Oregon (PACCO), the Bayanihan Center, and the Filipino American Association of Vancouver, WA. Volunteer individuals and organizations also provided their services and resources to ensure the orderly and efficient conduct of the outreach.

Tigard Mayor Tom Snyder welcomed the 11-man consular team headed by Deputy Consul General Raquel R. Solano, and expressed support for the event. Oregon residents former Philippine Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III and wife Cynthia also visited the outreach, as did 18-year-old Malea Cesar, one of the key members of the Philippine women’s football team.
