EXHIBIT AT STANFORD UNIVERSITY’S CANTOR ARTS CENTER FEATURES WORKS OF FIL-AM LENSMAN RICARDO ALVARADO

The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco, represented by Vice Consul Adrian Baccay, attended the reception hosted by the Asian American Art Initiative at the Cantor Arts Center of Stanford University on 30 September 2022.

The reception celebrates the inaugural exhibits of the Asian American Art Initiative including “At Home/On Stage: Asian American Representation in Photography and Film,”  which features the works of the late Filipino American photographer Ricardo Alvarado. In the 1940s and 1950s, Alvarado documented social events and other scenes of daily life of Filipinos in San Francisco. A good number of Alvarado’s 3,000 photographs have been featured in exhibitions across the U.S., including the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History.

“At Home/On Stage: Asian American Representation in Photography and Film” will run at the Cantor Arts Center through 15 January 2023. (San Francisco PCG photos)
