PLEASANTON, California – The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco joined officers, members, families and friends of Bohol Circle Inc. (BCI) in celebrating the organization’s 90th Anniversary on 12 September 2026 at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Pleasanton, California.
Consul General Arnel G. Talisayon represented the Philippine Consulate at the milestone celebration, which brought together generations of Boholanos and members of the Filipino-American community to commemorate nine decades of fellowship, service, and commitment to preserving Boholano and Filipino heritage in Northern California.
In his remarks, Consul General Talisayon congratulated Bohol Circle, led by its President Myrna Sale Cajilog, and recognized the organization’s founders and generations of members who sustained its work since its establishment in 1936.
“Ninety years is much more than a milestone. It represents nine decades of friendship, fellowship, sacrifice, service and community,” Consul General Talisayon said, highlighting pakikipagkapwa and bayanihan as values that have remained at the heart of Bohol Circle throughout the decades.
The formal program also featured a presentation on the history of Bohol Circle by Derrick Cagaanan, special message from Alameda, California Mayor Marilyn Ezzzy Ashcraft, and a keynote address by California Attorney General Rob Bonta. The program also included cultural performances featuring members of the community and descendants of Bohol Circle’s founding members.
All speakers highlighted the organization’s effort in 1965 to pool resources to acquire land and establish its community center in Alameda, providing a lasting space for fellowship and community activities. They also recognized the establishment of the Bohol Circle Immigrant Park, inaugurated in 2023, as another enduring testament to the organization’s commitment to creating a lasting legacy for future generations. They also encouraged the organization’s younger members to carry forward the legacy entrusted to them by earlier generations.
Consul General Talisayon likewise administered the oath-taking of the organization’s officers, underscoring the continuing leadership and service of Bohol Circle as it enters its tenth decade.
The celebration concluded with fellowship and dancing, bringing together Bohol Circle members and guests in a festive celebration of the organization’s 90-year history. The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco congratulates Bohol Circle Inc. on its 90th anniversary and looks forward to continuing its partnership with the organization in strengthening Filipino community ties, promoting Philippine heritage, and connecting succeeding generations of Filipino-Americans with the Philippines.
