Consul Rowena Pangilinan-Daquipil and Economic Assistant Danica Vismonte represented the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco at the City of South San Francisco’s “Biotech and Beyond Speaker Series” featuring Thermo Fisher Scientific on 24 July 2026 at the South San Francisco Library, Parks and Recreation Council Chambers.
The presentation, delivered by Ms. Nancy Fong, Director of Product Management for Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Capillary Electrophoresis and Human Identification Businesses, highlighted the company’s forensic DNA technologies used in criminal investigations, disaster victim identification, missing persons cases, border security, and anti-human trafficking efforts. Ms. Fong also presented the RapidHIT ID System, which enables rapid DNA analysis to support law enforcement and emergency response operations.
Following the presentation, Consul Pangilinan-Daquipil met with Ms. Fong to discuss Thermo Fisher Scientific’s presence in the Philippines and potential future engagements with Philippine law enforcement agencies to introduce the company’s latest forensic DNA technologies.
The event also underscored South San Francisco’s role as the birthplace of biotechnology and one of the world’s leading life sciences hubs. Home to more than 250 life sciences companies, the city continues to foster innovation through a collaborative ecosystem that supports advances in healthcare, diagnostics, and medical technologies.
