Philippine Flag Raised at the San Francisco City Hall in Celebration of the 128th Anniversary of Philippine Independence

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA – As part of its annual celebration, the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco co-organized with the Protocol Office of the San Francisco City and County, the annual Philippine flag-raising ceremony at the San Francisco City Hall.
Consul General Talisayon and Chief of Protocol Penny Coulter led the hoisting of the Philippine flag at the balcony of the mayor’s office. Other dignitaries in attendance include Assemblymember Matt Haney, San Francisco Art Commissioner Al Perez, San Francisco Entertainment Commissioner Anthony Schlander, Daly City Councilmember Juslyn Manalo, and San Francisco-Manila Sister City Committee Chair Carmen Colet.
During the brief program and reception that followed, Ms. Coulter extended a special welcome to the Consul General and expressed her hope of further strengthening the friendship between the Consulate and the City under the leadership of the new Consul General. She also took the opportunity to acknowledge the significant contributions of the Filipino American community in the fields of healthcare, culture and the arts, and civic engagement. Ms. Coulter formally presented a proclamation signed by Mayor Daniel Lurie, declaring 12 June 2026 as Filipino American Friendship and Heritage Day in the City and County of San Francisco.
Consul General Talisayon reiterated the Consulate’s commitment to work hand in hand with the City of San Francisco, its leaders, institutions, and civic organizations, to advance the welfare of our kababayan, promote cultural understanding, and strengthen the bonds between the Philippines and the United States.
