Philippine Consulate Holds Special Flag-Raising Ceremony in Commemoration of Philippine Independence Day

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA – The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco held a flag-raising ceremony under the multi-year theme: Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan., in commemoration of the 128th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence at the Kalayaan Hall of the Philippine Center.

Consulate personnel, including representatives from the Philippine Department of Tourism in San Francisco, the Philippine Trade and Investment Center–Silicon Valley, and the Philippine Center Management Board joined the ceremony.

In his video message, President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. stated that “Our forebears understood that independence was just the first step in the quest for true freedom, followed by the arduous task of building our nation. Indeed, our conception had to face many struggles. Yet, as Filipinos, we built, persevered, and endured, proving that we can stand on our own, not only with the power of our intellect and might, but also to the courage and the goodness in our hearts .

A video message of Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay of the Department of Tourism was also featured, while the official messages from Secretary of Foreign Affairs Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro, Secretary of Trade and Industry Maria Cristina Aldeguer-Roque and Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel G. Romualdez were read during the program. Following the flag-raising, the Consulate remained open to the public to provide consular services to its clients.END
