SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA, U.S.A. – To mark the 75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, a Forum was organized by the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco for its personnel on 14 December 2023 at Sentro Rizal, Philippine Center.

“The Philippines’ deep and resolute commitment to human rights can be gleaned in our advocacies for the human rights of women, children, migrant workers, indigenous peoples, and persons with disabilities, among others, which are all embedded in our foreign policy; But let us not be complacent. Let us continue to strive to uphold and promote human rights, freedom, equality and justice for all,” Consul  General Neil Frank Ferrer said in his welcome remarks.

The speakers during the Forum were Mr. Raymund John Rosuelo, Chief of Research and Knowledge Management Division from the Commission on Human Rights, who presented updates on the human rights situation in the Philippines, and Consul Rowena Pangilinan-Daquipil who provided a short case study presentation on human rights situation in Argentina during the 1976–1983 military dictatorship. Her presentation is an offshoot of her attendance and participation in the International Course on Human Rights conducted by Centro Internacional para la Promoción de los Derechos Humanos (CIPDH-UNESCO).
