OVER 500 FILIPINOS AND FIL-AMS IN JUNEAU AVAIL OF CONSULAR OUTREACH SERVICES

Filipinos and Fil-Ams in Juneau and other parts of Alaska availing of consular outreach services at the Centennial Hall on 8-9 July 2021

Over 500 Filipinos and Fil-Ams in Juneau and in various parts of Alaska availed of the various services of the PH Consulate General in San Francisco during its outreach held at the Centennial Hall along Egan Drive in Juneau, AK on 8-9 July 2021.  About 300 renewed their Philippine passports and 144 reacquired their Filipino citizenship under Republic Act 9225. Many have reported their vital events and those of their family, and some had their documents legalized. 88 individuals registered for Overseas Absentee Voting (OAV). With the outreach, these Filipinos and FilAms are spared of the need to travel to San Francisco and spend considerable amounts of money to obtain much needed consular services.

A 10-man team led by Consul General Neil Frank R. Ferrer provided the requested services. The team was assisted in the conduct of outreach services by PH Honorary Consul to Alaska Ms. Rebecca Carrillo, Filipino Community, Inc. (FCI) president Mr. Edric Carrillo, and other FilAm leaders and volunteers. City and state government officials, including Chief of Staff of the Governor of Alaska Mr. Randy Ruaro, Deputy Commissioners of Labor and Workforce Development Mr. Nelson San Juan and Ms. Cathy Munoz, former Juneau Mayor Mr. Bruce Bothelo, and FilAm civic leader Mr. Raffy Castanos, also supported the team’s visit to Juneau and the conduct of outreach services.
