STANFORD SEMINAR HIGHLIGHTS THRIVING PHILIPPINE STARTUP ECOSYSTEM

STANFORD, CALIFORNIA – The Philippine Consulate in San Francisco attended a seminar at Stanford University’s US-Asia Technology Center titled, “The Startup Ecosystem of the Philippines: Current Trends and Opportunities” on 28 May 2024. The event was part of its Spring 2024 series on “Entrepreneurship in Asian High-Tech Industries.”

The seminar featured a panel discussion led by Dr. Richard Dasher, Director of the US-Asia Technology Center. Panelists included Filipino Americans who played pivotal roles in helping develop the Philippine startup scene: Paulo Campos, Founding Managing General Partner at Kaya Founders; Christina Laskowski, Principal, Alquemie Ventures LLC, and adjunct Professor at the University of San Francisco, and Chairperson of the Science and Technology Advisory Council Silicon Valley (STAC), which is dedicated to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the Philippines, U.S., and ASEAN region; and Kendrick Geluz Kho, Co-Founder and General Partner, Fourth Realm VC & current President of STAC.

Philippine Consulate Economic Assistant Jennifer Sto. Domingo attended the event, which discussed the challenges and opportunities facing Philippine startups, highlighting their potential for growth and influence on both Silicon Valley and the greater Southeast Asian market. END
