SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA, USA – The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco joined the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors and a diverse group of attendees, including local government officials and consulate representatives from across the Bay Area in the inauguration of a new civic building in San Mateo CA last 19 September 2024.

The new building, located at 500 County Center in Redwood City, serves as a central hub for San Mateo County, strategically positioned between the major civic centers of San Francisco and San Jose. Constructed from mass timber—compressed layers of wood—this building is the first in the country to utilize this more sustainable material, despite initial concerns over its perceived risks. Additionally, the building is noted for its innovative construction, net-zero energy design, and overall community-centric intention. END
