SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS’ FILIPINO HERITAGE NIGHT CELEBRATES FILIPINO CULTURE, COMMUNITY

Consul General Neil Ferrer joined the Filipino American Community in the annual Filipino Heritage Night of the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park in San Francisco on 20 August 2024, upon the invitation of Filipino American Arts Exposition (FAAE) President and San Francisco Entertainment Commissioner Al Perez.

“I commend the Giants Organization and the Filipino American Community for organizing this year’s Filipino Heritage Night. Similar to the energy that I saw in the crowd tonight, I encourage the community to continue supporting events that celebrate Filipino culture and pride in the United States,” Consul General Ferrer said.

The event featured pre-show performances by Mabuhay Folkloric Society, Legacy Filipino Martial Arts, Island Warriors Martial Arts, Santa Clara University Barkada, and Alisah Bonaobra, who performed the U.S. National Anthem. A short film was played featuring The Lumpia Company, one of the more popular specialty food stalls at Oracle Park. Philippines Baseball Group Northern California Director Matt Lopez threw the ceremonial first pitch on behalf of his group.

Upcoming Filipino heritage-related events in the Bay Area include the Filipino Heritage Day of Oakland Athletics vs. Milwaukee Brewers on 24 August 2024, the A’s final one in Oakland, and the Filipino Heritage Night of San Jose Earthquakes vs. St. Louis City Soccer Club on 21 September 2024.
