The iconic San Francisco City Hall—known as a set for Hollywood films such as “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, “A View To A Kill” and “Milk”, and as a sought-after wedding venue in the city—is illuminated with the Philippines’s national colors of blue, yellow and red on 12 June 2022 in celebration of Philippine Independence Day, and Filipino-American Heritage and Friendship Day in the city.

San Francisco Mayor London Breed signed a proclamation—presented to Philippine Consul General in San Francisco Neil Ferrer following the Philippine flag-raising ceremony at the San Francisco City Hall on 7 June 2022—where she declared June 12 as Filipino-American Heritage and Friendship Day, and congratulated the Filipino people on the 124th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence.

“San Francisco has a longstanding history of openness and respect for people of all backgrounds, and today, on the occasion of the Philippine Independence Day we particularly recognize the important contributions made to our city by Filipino-Americans,” Mayor Breed’s proclamation reads.
