POP-UP CURATED MAKERS’ MARKET ‘MERKADO KULTURA’ OPENS IN SF

San Francisco, 07 May 2023 – Consul General Neil Frank R. Ferrer led the opening of the second iteration of a pop-up Philippine maker’s market called Merkado Kultura at the Kalayaan Hall of the Philippine Consulate.

This year’s Merkado Kultura was organized by Lu France Interiors of San Diego, California, ShipIt and 1Export in the Philippines, Filiflavors and Pili and Blu in San Francisco, in partnership with the Philippine Trade Investment Center in Silicon Valley and the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco.

“The Consulate is proud to host Merkado Kultura, where Filipino and Filipino American artisans and entrepreneurs have put their heart and soul into their craft,” said Consul General Ferrer during the opening of the event.

Merkado Kultura is a curated makers’ market celebrating the Philippines. Filipino artisans and entrepreneurs featured unique, handcrafted and sustainably made products.

It showcased the products of Filipino-American business owners, including Angkan, Anthill, Bago, Barong Barkada, Chunky Butt Ice Cream, Filiflavors, Gaenz, Hara, Hulma, Kokak Chocolates, Kubo California, La Kalidad, Lacson Ravello, Lu France Interiors, Mackbox Desserts, Malingkat, Narra, Narra Studio, Oodaalolly, Pampasaya, Pili and Blu, Sarap Now, Sewn Sandals, Studio Zedside, Style Ana, and Ube Galore Breads & More.

SCORE San Francisco was also present at the Merkado Kultura to connect with Fil-Am business owners. SCORE San Francisco is a group of experienced business professionals who provide free mentorship to U.S.-based business owners or those planning to start a small business to scale up their business. SCORE San Francisco works closely with the U.S. Small Business Administration. END
