Philippine Consulate Hosts Tribute to National Artist Nora Aunor in San Francisco

PHILIPPINE CONSULATE HOSTS TRIBUTE TO NATIONAL ARTIST NORA AUNOR IN SAN FRANCISCO

San Francisco, California  – On May 17, 2025, the Philippine Center’s Kalayaan Hall was filled with admiration and celebration as members of the Filipino community gathered for a heartfelt tribute to Philippine National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts, Nora Aunor. The event, hosted by the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco, and organized in honor of Aunor’s enduring contributions to Philippine arts and culture, drew a warm and enthusiastic audience, including fans, artists, community leaders, and cultural advocates, as far as New Jersey and Texas.

Gracing the occasion was Consul Rowena Pangilinan-Daquipil, who delivered a keynote speech on behalf of the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco. In her remarks, she warmly welcomed attendees and paid homage to Nora Aunor’s extraordinary legacy:

“This afternoon, we gather not just as admirers and fans, but as a community united by our shared pride in Nora Aunor’s extraordinary contributions to Philippine arts and culture. Her voice, her acting, her spirit—these have touched countless lives, transcending borders and generations.”

Consul Pangilinan-Daquipil highlighted Aunor’s role as more than a celebrated artist, describing her as a “symbol of resilience, humility, and excellence,” whose influence reaches far beyond the Philippines, resonating deeply with the Filipino diaspora in the United States and around the world.

The tribute featured testimonials from peers and fans, and group performances that underscored her impact on generations of Filipinos. Attendees shared personal reflections and stories of how Aunor’s life and artistry have inspired them.

The Consul also expressed gratitude to the event organizer, Mr. Epee Rafanan, and the dedicated team behind the celebration.
