PHILIPPINE CONSUL GENERAL IN SAN FRANCISCO CALLS ON THE FIRST PRESIDENCY OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS

Philippine General in San Francisco Neil Frank R. Ferrer called on the First Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS), also known as the Mormon Church, in Salt Lake City on 11 August 2021.

The First Presidency of the LDS comprise the head of the Mormon Church. They are composed of President Dallin H. Oaks, former President of Brigham Young University and Justice of the Utah Supreme Court from 1980 to 1984; President Henry B. Eyring, former President of Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho; and President Russell M. Nelson, retired surgeon and medical researcher.

President Oaks and President Nelson had previously conducted missionary work for the LDS in the Philippines and both shared fond memories of their stay in the country. They expressed appreciation for the warm welcome given to them, and the missionaries of the LDS, by the Filipino people.

Consul General Ferrer expressed appreciation for the humanitarian work that the LDS continues to do in the Philippines, including the provision of scholarships and health-related activities in relation to the pandemic. END
