Asia Society is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to promoting mutual understanding and strengthening partnerships among peoples, leaders, and institutions of Asia and the United States. It has branches across the United States and Asia, including Manila. Its Northern California branch is based in San Francisco.
The organization has been organizing events aimed to promote understanding of Asia to its audience in Northern California. Despite the pandemic, Asia Society Northern California continues to actively organize discussions that are politically, economically, and culturally relevant, though events have now shifted online. Executive Director Conley expressed hope that the organization will be able to resume in-person events in a few months.
Consul General Ferrer shared that the Philippines is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with the United States, and he expressed hope that Asia Society Northern California could be part of events that celebrate this milestone occasion.
Consul General Ferrer remarked during the meeting that, “the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco shall continue to engage with Asia Society Northern California in its shared objective of promoting understanding of Asia to people across the United States. Noting that the Philippines and the U.S. are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year, we hope to particularly promote the active, vibrant and dynamic relations between the two countries.” / END
