PH Consulate Witnesses Establishment of Sister City Ties Between Daly City and Izumisano, Japan

PH CONSULATE WITNESSES ESTABLISHMENT OF SISTER CITY TIES BETWEEN DALY CITY AND IZUMISANO, JAPAN

The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco congratulated Fil-Am Daly City Mayor Juslyn Manalo and Izumisano Mayor Hiroyasu Chiyomatsu on the establishment of sister city relations between Daly City, California and Izumisano, Japan.

Upon the invitation of Mayor Manalo and Japanese Deputy Consul General in San Francisco Hajime Kishimori, the Philippine Consulate, represented by Consul and Jed Llona, Consul Rowena Pangilinan-Daquipil, Vice Consul Adrian Baccay, Vice Consul Hannah Go, and Cultural Officer Cristine Clasara-Steylaerts, witnessed the “Key to the City” presentation symbolizing the sister city cooperation between Daly City and Izumisano, held during the meeting of the City Council at Daly City Hall on 22 July 2024.

Izumisano is Daly City’s second international sister city, following Quezon City in the Philippines. A similar presentation was held in July 2023, when a delegation led by Quezon City Administrator Mike Alimurung signed an agreement on behalf of Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte to renew the two cities’ longstanding sister city ties.

The “sister city” is the highest form of inter-local government partnership, forging exchange and cooperation in the pursuit of mutually-beneficial objectives along the socio-cultural, environmental, and economic aspects of development. (San Francisco PCG photos)
