PH CONSULATE TAKES PART IN 21ST ANNUAL PAROL LANTERN FESTIVAL IN SAN FRANCISCO

The Filipino American Community in the Bay Area came together for the 21st annual Parol Lantern Festival, organized by the SOMA Pilipinas Filipino Cultural Heritage District and the Filipino American Development Foundation (FADF) at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco on 9 December 2023.

The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco took part in the festivities by joining the community in a parol stroll around the Yerba Buena Gardens and presented a miniature-size bahay kubo, a traditional house found in the Philippines, with Filipino Christmas decors such as the parol.

First mounted in 2003 as the first Filipino Christmas lantern festival in the U.S., the Parol Lantern Festival has become a yearly tradition in San Francisco to enjoy Filipino Christmas through parol-making, music, and food. (San Francisco PCG photos)
