PH CONSULATE, SENTRO RIZAL SF HOST CULTURAL LECTURE-WORKSHOP WITH KATUTUBO EXCHANGE PHILIPPINES FOUNDER DR. EDWIN ANTONIO

In celebration of Philippine Independence Day, the Philippine Consulate General and Sentro Rizal San Francisco partnered with Katutubo Exchange Philippines for “Kasarinlan: A Lecture-Workshop on Philippine Culture and Nationhood,” held for Consulate personnel on 9 June 2023. Dr. Edwin Antonio, Katutubo Exchange Philippines founder, served as the resource speaker for the cultural lecture-workshop.

In his welcome remarks, Philippine Consul General Neil Ferrer expressed hope that Consulate personnel will be reminded that as members of the Philippine Foreign Service and as Filipinos, “they are bearers of our nation’s proud history and rich culture.”

During the lecture, Dr. Antonio gave an overview of Philippine pre-colonial history and heritage, the various indigenous peoples of the Philippines, and the current roster of Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan recipients. He conducted a workshop on baybayin writing, and allowed select Consulate personnel to wear the traditional attires of the indigenous peoples of the Cordilleras and Mindanao.
