PH CONSULATE JOINS SCREENING OF FIRST-EVER SUMMER MMFF BEST PICTURE “ABOUT US BUT NOT ABOUT US” AT FRAMELINE FILMFEST

The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco, represented by Vice Consul Adrian Baccay, attended the North America premiere of the Filipino psychological and queer film “About Us But Not About Us” at the 47th Frameline Film Festival, in front of a full-house crowd at Roxie Theater in San Francisco on 20 June 2023.

“About Us But Not About Us,” which stars Filipino actors Romnick Sarmenta and Elijah Canlas, won the Best Picture award at the first-ever Summer Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) in April 2023.

Producers Ferdinand Lapuz and Perci Intalan, and director Jun Robles Lana attended the film’s premiere—along with MMFF Executive Director Atty. Rochelle Ona, and MMFF Executive Committee Member Bing Advincula. Fil-Am Community groups Filipino Arts and Cinema (FACINE), LEAD Filipino, and the Filipino American Center served as community sponsors for the premiere.

Founded in 1977 as the San Francisco International LGBTQ+ Film Festival, the Frameline Film Festival is considered “the longest-running, largest and most widely recognized LGBTQ+ film exhibition event in the world.” The film fest coincided with the yearly LGBTQ+ Pride celebrations in San Francisco every June.
