The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco, represented by Deputy Consul General Raquel R. Solano, joined the Kaiser Permanente Filipino Association (KPFA) as it celebrated its 23rd anniversary in December this year at the Doubletree by Hilton in Burlingame, California. KPFA is an association of Filipino and Filipino American medical and health professionals employed at the Kaiser Permanente, one of the largest health care companies in the United States, with over 200,000 employees, including Filipino and Fil-Am physicians and nurses, in its hospitals and medical centers across the nation. During its anniversary celebration, KPFA honored its founders and retired members, held a kids’ fashion show, and gave scholarship awards to deserving high school and college students who won in a county-wide essay writing competition organized by the association in cooperation with academic institutions. KPFA Dance Troupe performed Filipino folk dances such as tinikling, carinosa, pandanggo, and pantomina during the celebration.
