UNIVERSITY PLACE, WASHINGTON – The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco held its first consular outreach for 2022 in University Place, Washington State, providing more than 1,700 consular services to Filipinos from 26 to 30 March 2022.
In a statement, Philippine Consul General in San Francisco Neil Ferrer said that the consular outreach in Washington State is “part of the Consulate’s mandate to provide timely consular services to our kababayans in the U.S. Pacific Northwest.” He also noted that the Consulate extended the outreach for Washington State to five days, from the usual two to three days.
“My immense gratitude goes to the indefatigable volunteers from the Filipino Community Alliance (FCA), our partner organization led by Brigadier General Oscar Hilman and Zenaida Crisostomo Slemp, for their contributions in making the consular outreach in Washington State a success,” said Consul General Ferrer.
The Philippine Consul General also thanked University Place Mayor Steve Worthington and Mr. Ali Kashi of Cheers University Place, the venue for the five-day consular outreach, for graciously hosting the Consulate team. Mayor Worthington earlier presented the Consulate with a resolution passed by the University Place City Council, recognizing the conduct of the consular outreach in the city.
A 10-person team traveled by land from San Francisco to render services to Filipinos in the state—including passport applications and renewals, dual citizenship applications, civil registrations, and legal and notarial services.
The Consulate rendered a total of 1,764 consular services to Filipinos in Washington State, which is 14 percent more than its initial target of 1,520 services. This includes 1,086 passport applications and renewals, one travel document application, 471 dual citizenship applications, 52 civil registrations (Reports of Birth, Reports of Marriage, Reports of Death), and 154 notarials and certifications. The next consular outreach in Washington State is tentatively scheduled on 7-11 October 2022. The indicative schedule of the consular outreach in other U.S. states is available on the Consulate’s official website: https://pcgsanfrancisco.org/consular-outreach-missions/. END
