PH Consulate in SF Joins Colma, California’s 100th Anniversary Celebration

PH CONSULATE IN SF JOINS COLMA, CALIFORNIA’S 100TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco, led by Consul Jed Llona and Vice Consul Hannah Go, took part in the milestone 100th anniversary celebration of the Bay Area town of Colma, California on 13 July 2024. Colma Mayor John Irish Goodwin led the centennial parade, which was participated in by local government offices, homegrown businesses, and residents.

Colma has played an outsized role in Filipino American politics in the Bay Area. Incumbent Colma Councilmember Joanne Del Rosario and former Councilmember Diana Colvin were the first-ever Filipino Americans in the Bay Area to have served together as Mayor and Vice Mayor, respectively, during the same term. Meanwhile, the Colma City Government has been hosting every June a Philippine flag-raising ceremony in celebration of Philippine Independence Day. (San Francisco PCG photos)
