PH CONSULATE IN SF FEATURES 2021 INDEPENDENCE DAY CONCERT
Following the successful production of the Philippine Consulate General’s virtual concert “KALAYAAN 2021: Celebrating Partnership and Humanity” which was livestreamed on Facebook (www.facebook.com/PHinSF) on 26 June 2021 and on TFC’s platforms on June 27 and July 11, the Consulate proudly featured snippets of the concert performances on the Philippine Center lobby jumbotron starting July 20.
Sentro Rizal San Francisco and the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco, with the support of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and the Philippine Center Management Board, and ABS-CBN TFC, MYX, co-produced the concert aimed to commemorate the 123rd Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence and the 75th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Philippines and the United States. The concert top billed SB19, BGYO, AJ Rafael, Markus and Moophs, the San Francisco Girls Chorus with Artistic Director Valerie Saint-Agathe, and Filipino American talents. Tourism Director Soleil Tropicales, Fatima David and Beatriz Abella also performed in the concert.
Consulate clients and building visitors were treated to a musical showcase celebrating Filipino popular music and culture. The video performances had subtitles so that non-Tagalog speakers could follow along.
Through the concert, the Consulate aims to foster tolerance amid growing anti-Asian hate and remember the contributions of Filipino Americans to the America society, and honor Philippine culture and heritage. END.
