SAN FRANCISCO, USA – Philippine Consul General Neil Frank R. Ferrer convened the 2022 planning conference of the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco on 24 November 2021 involving the officers of the Consulate and partner government agencies to coordinate their programs and activities for 2022.

Represented during the 2022 planning conference were the Consular, Economic and Cultural Sections of the Consulate, the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Silicon Valley, the Department of Tourism Office, the Social Security System Office, and the Philippine Center Management Board.

In his welcome remarks, Consul General Ferrer emphasized the importance of working as a “one country, one team” to advance the interests of the Philippines, and serve the needs of more than 1 million Filipinos in the U.S. Pacific Northwest. He noted the Consulate’s key achievements for 2021 amid the COVID-19 pandemic and emphasized the importance of the Consulate personnel’s safety and wellness as they deliver various consular services for the public.

“By harmonizing the efforts of the offices and partner agencies of the Consulate, we hope to carry out our mission of promoting Philippines-U.S. trade, investments and tourism, delivering effective consular services to overseas Filipinos, and engaging with the Filipino diaspora in the U.S. Pacific Northwest,” Consul General Ferrer said.

For 2022, the Consulate will continue to engage companies and business leaders in the U.S. Pacific Northwest, including in Silicon Valley, and conduct its consular outreach missions. The Consulate will also prepare for the upcoming May 2022 National Elections.

Dynamico Space, a private sector economic diplomacy partner of the Consulate, which maintains an office and co-working space located at the Philippine Center, shared its plans for next year. The Consulate has an ongoing public-private partnership with Dynamico Space to assist Philippine startup companies gain exposure in the United States, and for U.S. startups to expand their market to the Philippines.

During the planning conference, the Consulate’s various offices and partner agencies also presented their accomplishments in 2021, achieved against the backdrop of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The Consulate in 2021 extended passport and other consular services to overseas Filipinos in Alaska, Colorado, Montana, Northern Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington State through its nine consular outreach missions, and registered more than 11,000 new overseas voters for the 2022 National Elections.

The Consulate also made headways in economic and cultural diplomacy, meeting and assisting companies that are interested or planning to set up a business in the Philippines, promoting Philippine-made products in the U.S. market, and organizing and attending events that promote Philippine culture and history.
