PH CONSULATE IN SAN FRANCISCO INSPIRES NEXT GENERATION OF FILIPINO ENTREPRENEURS

SAN FRANCISCO, USA – The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco recently hosted a group of young Filipino entrepreneurs and business students from Ateneo de Manila University. The group was headed by Director Carlo Calimon of StartUp Village.

The meeting, part of the Engage Silicon Valley Immersion Tour from 29 July to 2 August 2024, is aimed at fostering collaboration, and inspiring the next generation of Filipino leaders and entrepreneurs.

Consul and Acting Head of Post Jed Llona, accompanied by Consul and Acting Economic Officer Rowena Pangilinan-Daquipil, Economic Assistant Jennifer Sto Domingo, and Trade Specialist Rosalie Say of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Silicon Valley (PTIC-SV), welcomed the group, and provided an overview of the Consulate’s initiatives in promoting trade, investments, and economic diplomacy. The Consulate highlighted the significant Filipino American Community under its jurisdiction and its potential as a bridge for business opportunities.

The students, eager to explore entrepreneurial ventures, expressed keen interest in areas such as e-commerce, sustainable fashion, and business licensing. The Consulate offered guidance on market entry, regulatory compliance, and networking opportunities.

The Consulate emphasized the Philippine government’s commitment to supporting startups, innovation and entrepreneurship through legislations such as the Innovative Startup Act and the Philippine Innovation Act of 2019. The Consulate’s partnership with organizations such as StartUp Village was highlighted as a key component in nurturing the next generation of Filipino entrepreneurs. END
