SAN FRANCISCO, USA – Philippine Consul General in San Francisco Neil Frank R. Ferrer convened a planning meeting with the Honorary Consuls in Alaska, Colorado and Oregon on 1 December 2021, to coordinate and consolidate the plans of the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco for the almost 1.071 million overseas Filipinos in the United States Pacific Northwest.

Philippine Honorary Consul in Juneau Rebecca N. Carrillo, Honorary Consul in Denver Donna B. Lavigne, and Honorary Consul in Portland Enrico E. Tadeo flew to San Francisco to participate in the 2022 planning conference, Consul General Ferrer’s first in-person meeting with the Philippine Honorary Consuls in the U.S. Pacific Northwest.

In his opening remarks, Consul General Ferrer highlighted the need for a “unified plan to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of passport and other consular services to overseas Filipinos in the U.S. Pacific Northwest.”

“The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco remains fully and firmly committed in serving our kababayans in the ten U.S. states under our consular jurisdiction. With the help of our hardworking and dedicated Philippine Honorary Consuls, we hope to put that commitment into action in 2022,” Consul General Ferrer said.

The Philippine Consul General also expressed his gratitude to the three Honorary Consuls for all that they have done for the Filipino communities under their purview. “I wish to assure Honorary Consuls Carrillo, Lavigne and Tadeo that the Consulate General will continue to be their steadfast partner in carrying out their mission for our kababayans in the U.S. Pacific Northwest,” Consul General Ferrer said.

During the conference, the Consulate General’s different sections and partner government agencies presented their plans for 2022, and solicited the Honorary Consuls’ inputs in implementing these plans beyond the San Francisco Bay Area. The three Honorary Consuls also received updates on the Consulate General’s services such as passport issuance, document notarization and legalization, and visa application.

A topic that was threshed out during the planning conference is the conduct of consular outreach missions in 2022. The Consulate General—which covers northern California, northern Nevada, Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah, Washington State, and Wyoming—will announce the schedule of these consular outreach missions to the public in due time.

On the sides of the planning conference, Honorary Consuls Carrillo, Lavigne and Tadeo toured Dynamico Space, an office and co-working space located at the Philippine Center. Dynamico Space is the Consulate General’s private economic diplomacy partner in assisting Philippine startup companies gain exposure in the United States, and for U.S. startups to expand their market to the Philippines.
