SAN FRANCISCO, 11 March 2022 – Consul General Neil Frank R. Ferrer participated in the online tax and investment webinar of the Filipino American Chamber of Commerce of Utah (FILAMCCU). Trade Commissioner Celynne Layug also provided a briefing on the investment opportunities in the Philippines.
Consul General Ferrer underscored positive economic developments in the country despite the pandemic, including a 5.6 percent GDP growth in 2021 and growing opportunities in the digital economy. He also noted the passage of important economic reform legislations, such as the Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprise (CREATE) Law and Republic Act No. 11647, which amends the Foreign Investments Act of 1991.
“I hope for the growth and success of [Fil-Am businesses in Utah], and I hope that you would take a closer look at the many opportunities of starting or expanding your businesses and investing in the Philippines,” Consul General Ferrer said in the webinar.
Consul General Ferrer also took the opportunity to highlight the Consulate’s public-private partnership with Dynamico Space (https://dynamico.space) at the Philippine Center, which works to assist Philippine startups gain exposure in Silicon Valley. END
