PH CONSULATE FETES UNION CITY’S TIES WITH PASAY AND BAYBAY, LEYTE IN 19TH SISTER CITY FESTIVAL

The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco, represented by Vice Consul Adrian Baccay, joined Union City’s 19th annual Sister City Festival with the theme “Peace Through Friendship,” on 4 August 2024 at the Mark Green Sports Center in Union City, California.

Vice Consul Baccay highlighted that Union City has not only one, but two Philippine sister cities: Pasay and Baybay, Leyte, which reflects the significant presence of the Bay Area city’s 14,000-strong Filipino American Community. He also outlined the Consulate’s economic diplomacy and tourism promotion work, which he hopes will help shape the future of Union City’s sister city cooperation with Pasay and Baybay.

The event was organized by the Union City Friends of Sister Cities, led by its Fil-Am President Pat Gacoscos. Baybay Councilor and former Mayor Carmen Cari conferred a plaque on Union City Mayor Carol Dutra-Vernaci. (Yoliesil Pontino, San Francisco PCG photos)
