SAN FRANCISCO, USA – Continuing its tradition of bringing holiday cheer to the elderly, the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco and the Pilipino Senior Resource Center (PSRC) jointly organized the 9th Annual Seniors Christmas Party at the Kalayaan Hall of the Philippine Center, San Francisco, on 8 December 2025.

In his message, Consul General Neil Frank Ferrer lauded the tireless efforts of PSRC, led by Executive Director Gabby Moraleda, in serving the elderly. He also acknowledged the generosity of various sponsors and partners, including Canon Kip Center, Curry Senior Center, the Bayanihan Equity Center (BEC), and the Philippine Nurses Association of Northern California (PNANC), among others, for their support of PSRC activities. Consul General Ferrer further emphasized the value of the lolos and lolas as “pillars of the community, the bearers of culture, values, and traditions.”

Deputy Consul General Maria Paz Cortes warmly welcomed more than 100 attendees, especially the lolos and lolas, to the Philippine Center which she described as their home away from home.

PSRC Executive Director Gabby Moraleda in his speech conveyed his gratitude to the Consulate, many individual sponsors, and the longstanding partner organizations such as the Asian Pacific Islander Resources Network (APIFRN), Asian Pacific Islander Legal Outreach (APILO), International Organization for Migration (IOM), To Celebrate Life Foundation (TCL), and San Francisco Women’s Cancer Network for their unwavering support to the elderly community.

Ms. Fides Manteuffel, ESL Naturalization Beneficiary, shared her story of success and expressed her gratitude to PSRC for providing her with assistance that enabled her to complete her U.S. naturalization.

During the celebration, several groups of seniors–including the Canon Kip Band, Canon Kip Dance Troupe, Senior Ambassadors Dance Troupe, and Canon Kip Ambassadors Dance Troupe–performed Filipino songs and dances, delighting the audience of all ages. Young Filipino American performers, Eman Orduña and Arriane Del, also entertained the lolos and lolas with their renditions of popular songs.

The Christmas party marks the ninth year the Consulate has hosted a holiday celebration for Filipino seniors from San Francisco and the greater Bay Area. The Consulate reaffirms its support and commitment to the well-being and empowerment of the senior Filipino community.END
