PH CONSUL GENERAL IN SF HIGHLIGHTS ‘PH WELCOMES BACK TOURISTS’

SAN FRANCISCO – Philippine Consul General Neil Ferrer welcomed attendees and the GMR Megawide team in a networking event organized by the Philippine Department of Tourism in SF on 20 October 2022 at the Philippine Center in San Francisco.

Consul General Ferrer noted recent global travel analytics reports saying that the Philippines registered the highest volume of summer flight bookings by U.S. travelers among countries in Southeast Asia. He invited the attendees to visit the Philippines soon.

He mentioned some of the travel accolades that the Philippines received this year including: “Asia’s Leading Dive Destination” for the Philippines, “Asia’s Leading Beach Destination” for Boracay, “Asia’s Leading Tourist Attraction” for Intramuros at the World Travel Awards for Asia 2022, “Asia’s Top Island” for Boracay at the Condé Nast Readers’ Choice Awards 2022, and the inclusion of Boracay, Palawan, and Cebu at Travel and Leisure Magazines’ “25 Best Islands in the World 2022.”

With the relaxation of pandemic-related travel restrictions, the Philippines is ready to welcome the world to explore the beauty of our 7,641 islands, and experience again the warmth and hospitality of our more than 100 million people,” Consul General Ferrer said.

Tourism Director Soleil Tropicales presented the DOT’s media campaigns, including, “Welcome Back to the Philippines,” “Eats More Fun in the Philippines,” as well as top tourist destinations in the country.

Head of airline marketing and tourism development of GMR Megawide Ms. Aines LIbrodo introduced the main features of the resort-themed Mactan Cebu International Airport to attendees. END
