PH Consul General in SF, Fil-Am SSF Mayor Meet Life Science Firm InterVenn Co-Founder
19 January 2023, SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO – Philippine Consul General in San Francisco Neil Ferrer and South San Francisco City Mayor Filipino American Buenaflor Nicolas met Filipino co-founder of U.S. biotech company InterVenn Mr. Aldo Carrascoso at its headquarters in South San Francisco.
InterVenn is a biotech company founded by Mr. Carrascoso, Nobel Laureate Dr. Carolyn Bertozzi and distinguished UC Davis professor and scientist Filipino American Dr. Carlito Lebrilla.
Philippine Trade Commissioner in Silicon Valley Celynne Layug and Consul Vanessa Bago-Llona also joined the meeting with Mr. Carrascoso and InterVenn Biosciences Chief Information and Security Officer, Mr. Randy Barr.
The group was given a tour of InterVenn Biosciences. They also discussed possible areas of cooperation and community engagement. Aside from its headquarters in South San Francisco, Intervenn is located in the Philippines, Malaysia, Australia, and San Diego in Southern California.
According to Mr. Carrascoso, he is proud of Filipino tech talent and his company employs a number of software engineers, data scientists, and other IT professionals in the Philippines.
InterVenn is a life science company that pioneered a “proprietary, artificial intelligence-based, high-throughput data processing engine unlocking the value of glycoproteomics.” Glycoproteomics is a highly complex field of study that can enhance the early detection, treatment and monitoring for various cancers and other diseases.
