PH Consul General Grateful for COVID-19 Testing Kit DonationsPress Release / December 16, 2021 Philippine Consul General in San Francisco Neil Frank R. Ferrer joined the holiday celebration of the University of the Philippines Alumni Association of San Francisco (UPAASF) at the Embassy Suites by Hilton in Burlingame, California on 10 December 2021, where he expressed gratitude and commended the UPAASF, Mr. Yobie Benjamin, and the Apl.De.Ap Foundation for their donation of COVID-19 Saliva Collection Kits to UP’s Philippine General Hospital, which are valued at around $2.85 million. “With the threat of new mutations such as the recently discovered Omicron variant, the donation of these effective and economical COVID-19 saliva testing kits… will go a long way towards helping our medical professionals and students at the UP-PGH continue to take a brave and effective stand in the front lines of this global pandemic,” Consul General Ferrer said during the event, which was also attended by UP President Danilo L. Concepcion and Filipino American music icon Apl.De.Ap. “We are always overcome by our drive to do more for our communities, and by our desire to continue giving back to our countrymen whose hard work paid for our education. As the ‘UP Naming Mahal’ reminds every Iskolar ng Bayan: “Malayong lupain, amin mang marating, ‘di rin magbabago ang damdamin,” said Consul General Ferrer, himself an alumnus of UP.
