PH CONSUL GENERAL FERRER MEETS BUSINESS OREGON OFFICIALS

Consul General Neil Frank R. Ferrer and team met on 9 September 2021 with Business Oregon officials led by director Ms. Sophorn Cheang. Previous PH Honorary Consul to Oregon Richard Woodling, FilAm leaders Jimmy Lim and Jan Mason were also present during the meeting.
Both sides expressed interest to work with each other in developing and strengthening Oregon’s economic and commercial ties with the Philippines.
Consul General Ferrer expressed the Philippines’ interest in promoting private sector and business exchanges between Oregon and the Philippines in various economic fields, fostering relations between the startup ecosystems in the Philippines and in Oregon, and increasing trade in goods and services between the two sides.
Consul General Ferrer noted that in terms of the Philippines’ IT-BPM sector, the Philippines has a young, English-speaking, well-educated and tech-savvy workforce, with a very competitive labor cost. He also stated that top global companies such as Google and IBM have set up offices in the country. By choosing to invest in the Philippines, he said, Oregon would be able to tap the vast ASEAN market, which has a total combined population of 661.5 million. -END
