Over 900 Services Delivered During PH Consulate in San Francisco’s Consular Outreach Program in Alaska

OVER 900 SERVICES DELIVERED DURING PH CONSULATE IN SAN FRANCISCO’S CONSULAR OUTREACH PROGRAM IN ALASKA

ALASKA, USA – The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco conducted a consular outreach in Anchorage, Alaska on 21-22 September 2024 and in Kodiak, Alaska on 24 September 2024.

Led by Consul General Neil Frank Ferrer and Consul Rowena Pangilinan-Daquipil, the consular outreach delivered passport, dual citizenship and overseas voting registration services to Alaska, which has a sizable Filipino and Filipino-American population.

A total of 932 services were provided which include 309 passport applications, 324 dual citizenship applications, and 288 overseas voting registration.

During the outreach, Ms. Macy Maglanque, Labor Attaché and Head of Migrant Workers Office – Los Angeles was present to provide information and guidance on various work and labor concerns of Filipinos in the area.

The consular outreach was organized in cooperation with the Filipino Community of Anchorage Alaska, and Filipino-American Association of Kodiak.

Consular applicants were briefed about the programs and activities of the Philippine Consulate including the ongoing Overseas Voting registration which is set to conclude on 30 September 2024.

Alaska is now home to about 36,000 Filipino Americans, and about 18,000 of them are in Anchorage. Anchorage hosts the largest Filipino community than any other area in Alaska. Filipino is also one of the largely spoken non-English languages in the state.

Meanwhile, Kodiak, Alaska is home to about 3,000 Filipinos, and comprise around 24% of the entire population of Kodiak Island Borough.
