The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco, represented by Vice Consul Adrian Baccay and Vice Consul Hannah Go, attended the Filipino Heritage Night of the San Jose Earthquakes at PayPal Park on 21 September 2024, featuring the home team’s game against the visiting St. Louis City SC. The event marked the Quakes’ first Filipino Heritage Night in years, during a special time for the team as it celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.

In his message, Consul General Neil Ferrer said: “I congratulate the San Jose Earthquakes on its 50th year, and commend the Quakes organization and the Filipino American Community in the Bay Area for organizing the Filipino Heritage Night. I encourage the community to continue supporting events that celebrate Filipino culture and pride.”

A post-game fan encounter was held featuring Fil-Am mixed martial artist Hyder “The Hurricane” Amil and Michael Baldisimo, Quakes midfielder who is the only MLS player in the Philippine Men’s National Soccer Team. During the encounter, Amil and Baldisimo took pride in their Filipino roots and encouraged the young fans in attendance to do the same. (San Francisco PCG photos)
