Invitation: “Gumamela” – A Creative, Musical Exploration of the Filipino-Mexican Connection
“Gumamela,” a production celebrating the deep musical connections between the Philippines and Mexico, will take place on 9 March 2025, 3:00 p.m., at the Brava Theater Center, 2781 24th Street, San Francisco, CA 94110.
Featuring Florante Aguilar, Charmaine Clamor, Jorge Mijangos, Greg Kehret, and Arwen Lawrence and Jorge Liceaga (a.k.a. “Cascada de Flores”), this intercultural collaboration aims to explore the uncanny similarities of the Philippines and Mexico, and discover how their traditional sounds intertwine and evolve.
