FILIPINO BELEN IN BAHAY KUBO ON DISPLAY AT 37TH ANNUAL CHRISTMAS CRèCHE EXHIBIT IN SILICON VALLEY
The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco is participating for the very first time in the 37th Annual Christmas Crèche Exhibit, organized by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at its church in Palo Alto, California from 7 to 11 December 2024.
Vice Consul Adrian Baccay joined a tour for members of the San Francisco Consular Corps on 8 December 2024, where he showcased the Consulate’s belen installation—one of the largest crèche displays at the exhibition. The belen featured the nativity scene inside a six-foot-tall Filipino bahay kubo (stilt house) that is adorned with Capiz shell Christmas ornaments as well as decors from the Philippine Department of Tourism Office in San Francisco.
The Christmas Crèche Exhibit in Silicon Valley is the longest running community-led exhibit of Christmas nativity art in the United States which, in 2023, attracted 6,800 in-person and 40,000 online visitors from the United States and around the world. (San Francisco PCG photos)
