FIL-AM COMMUNITY IN SPOKANE, WASHINGTON JOINS SENTRO RIZAL’S VIRTUAL MASTERCLASS ON PH CHORAL MUSIC

SAN FRANCISCO, USA – Around 15 members of the Filipino American Community in Spokane, Washington joined other participants from Los Angeles, California in the first-ever Sentro Rizal Virtual Masterclass on Philippine Choral Music held in the U.S. West Coast.
The Philippine Consulates General in San Francisco and Los Angeles co-hosted the virtual masterclass, which featured the internationally acclaimed Filipino choral group the Philippine Madrigal Singers or the Madz.
Philippine Consul General in San Francisco Neil Ferrer gave his welcome remarks during the virtual masterclass, where he thanked the Philippine National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) “for coming up with this one-of-a-kind Philippine cultural training program.”
“I hope that through this virtual masterclass, the Madz will help you gain knowledge and build confidence in choral singing, as they impart to you their techniques and best practices that have made the Madz one of the world’s most sought-after choral groups,” Consul General Ferrer said.
The Philippine Consul General added: “More importantly, I hope that you, our online participants, will realize your potential of becoming ambassadors of Filipino culture, creativity and talent here in the United States and beyond through the universal language of music.”
Philippine Consul General in Los Angeles Edgar Badajos also gave his welcome message.
During the virtual masterclass, participants watched recorded videos of lectures on diction, tone and choral blend, intonation and harmony, dynamic and expressive singing, “singtelligence,” and “singtegration.” Madz choral conductor and choirmaster Mark Anthony Carpio gave a live lecture and demonstration to the online participants.
