Feast of San Pedro Calungsod Celebrated by the Filipino Ministry of San Francisco Archdiocese
On 20 April 2024, the Filipino Ministry of the Archdiocese of San Francisco held a Eucharistic Celebration in honor of the Feast of San Pedro Calungsod at St. Mark Catholic Church in Belmont, California.
The celebration included a concelebrated Mass led by Rev. Angel Quitalig, Pastor of St. Mark Parish, a procession honoring San Pedro Calungsod, the blessing and induction of officers of the Filipino Ministry of San Francisco Archdiocese and a reunion of participants in the pilgrimage to the Philippines in January 2024.
San Pedro Calungsod was beatified on 5 March 2000, by Pope John Paul II and was canonized by Pope Benedict XVI on 21 October 2012 at Saint Peter’s Basilica in Vatican CIty. (San Francisco PCG photos)
On behalf of the Consulate General, Consul Vanessa Bago-Llona and Cultural Officer Cristine Cia Clasara-Steylaerts joined the Filipino Community in Belmont in the festivities. The Consulate also invited the Filipino Community to explore the country by joining the 2024 Very Important Pinoy (VIP) Tour.
