Dual Citizens Traveling to the Philippines / Transiting through Korea

The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco would like to remind dual citizens traveling to the Philippines that the Philippine Bureau of Immigration requires the presentation of any of the following documents as proof of Philippine citizenship in order to be able to enter the Philippines:

  • Valid Philippine Passport;
  • Identification Certificate (IC); or
  • Certificate of Re-acquisition / Retention of Philippine Citizenship (CRPC)

Any of the abovementioned documents should also be presented upon departure.

In lieu of a passport, dual citizens may also apply for a Travel Document, which is a one-way document that may be used for entry to the Philippines and is valid for 30 calendar days.  However, dual citizens, including children, who will enter the Philippines using travel documents, should present a valid Philippine passport upon departure, so that immigration fines would not be imposed on them.

Please also note that dual citizens without a valid Philippine passport who are transiting through the Republic of Korea are strongly advised to secure their complete set of citizenship documents (i.e., Identification Certificate, Order of Approval, Oath of Allegiance and PSA-issued Birth Certificate), as required by airline personnel in Korea.

Please be guided accordingly.
